My Thoughts on Feb 12

Tomorrow I'm having GATE exam. Though I don't intend to do MTech at present, I'm just taking the exam to know what it is like. But I've not prepared much for it. As it only covers what I've read all along in these 4 years of B.E., I hope to do my best.

Today I went to ONGC website to look at the job openings available. The company had indicated that they'll be publishing the details today. What I saw was a bit shocking, though expected. Ofthe 150 vacancies available 75 are up for open competition while the remaining are up for SC/STs. This is a very depressing situation in India. Though this reservation system was brought out so that backward people will join the mainstream citizens, who's actually being benefited? Those 'backward' people who are well-off now and can easily compete without reservation. In addition these people have to pay only Rs. 30 while others pay Rs. 300 for applyig to this post. The problem is that those who are really backward and poor do not benefit. God only knows when this situation will turn around. But I don't like these negative things affect my mood.. I always hope to maintain a happy note of things happening around me.

I've started learning VB6. It's been 4 years since I heard of VB and now suddenly I got an inkling to learn VB. At present I don't wish to follow any book, just learnig thro the web. As always I found a website which contains VB programming basics written in a simple format. It's sort of an unconventinal but a nice way to learn.

One thing I almost forgot to mention. Recently I came across a website which is supposedly the world's longest website. http://www.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.com/ Anybody can open an e-mail account in this site for free and can have the world's longest email id. Either click the link given or if anybody has the time and energy to type the website name in the address bar they can do so.
